About Shaktipat

योग दर्शन में शक्तिपात एक आध्यात्मिक प्रक्रिया है जिसके द्वारा गुरु अपनी आध्यात्मिक शक्ति शिष्य में स्थापित करता है। शक्तिपात एक गुप्तमन्त्र के द्वारा किया जा सकता है या आँख द्वारा देखकर या विचार द्वारा या स्पर्श द्वारा।

Shaktipat, commonly know as Diksha is a ritual after which you are officially a disciple of that Guru. It brings about changes in your spiritual body. You can expect any number of things to take place in your life or you may feel nothing at all but changes do occur at spiritual level.

Shaktipat can be transmitted with a sacred word or mantra, or by a look, thought or touch. Even when a Guru has left his body, he can give Shaktipat. In this process, Guru can also take up some of the Karma of disciple.

Saktipat is considered an act of grace on the part of the guru or the divine. It cannot be imposed by force, nor can a receiver make it happen. The very consciousness of the god or guru is held to enter into the Self of the disciple, constituting an initiation into the school or the spiritual family of the guru.
